Woody’s Fundraiser a Big Success!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Woody's! Woody's donation of 100 percent of all Edna Maguire ice cream and frozen yogurt receipts last weekend helped Edna raise … hang onto your ice cream cones … $1000!!! A sweet shout out goes to Janet Fox and Stacey Ciauri for organizing this popular event and getting the word out to everyone.
We are creating a giant ice cream cone poster to thank Woody's. If your child would like to sign his or her name or add a special note, please stop by after school on Monday at the front of school or Tuesday at the back parking lot. We'll present this to Woody's as a token of our appreciation.
Steeplechase Permission Slips Past Due
All Steeplechase permission slips are past due. If you don't want your child to be on the sidelines while their classmates are participating in Steeplechase, please turn in a signed permission slip NOW.
Garden News
The Farmer's Market tables have been a hit with the Edna Maguire community thanks to the great team of volunteers and the generous shoppers. The market has given our students the opportunity to see the full food cycle, from seed to soil and from garden to table. It has also raised necessary funds used to maintain the garden. The past two weeks' markets raised $228.50 and $206, respectively. Thanks to the classes of Ms. Morgan, Ms. Sprague, and Ms. Carr for harvesting as well as Mari and Thomas Allen. Thanks to Stirling Somers, Karen Olson, and Steph Ryder for setting up and working the tables, and to bakers Jody Branham, Karen Olson, and Kelley Fullerton-Bloom. Thanks to all of the generous shoppers and to Lisa Santos for continuing to organize and coordinate this special event.
Our garden is now ready to “rest” and start preparing for the fall crop. Thus, the farmer's market will be shuttered for a while, though there may be occasional appearances. We will keep you posted. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the market's great success.

Last weekend's Garden Workday was also a success. A great team of gardeners, including Lisa Zimmer, Jill Anderson, Kelley Fullerton-Bloom, Yoni Cassel, Linda Dunne, Oscar Rivas, Rich Ross, and Paula Stetler managed to clear most of the garden beds, amend the soil with natural fertilizer and prepare them for planting. Bruce Berlinger helped keep the garden clean with a dump run. Thanks to the many Edna students that came along and helped and cleaned up after their parents, raking up and carrying the debris away for composting.
