Final Revolution Foods Lunch Orders Due May 22nd
Thank you for supporting the Revolution Foods lunch program this year. As summer quickly approaches, we need parents to place their final lunch orders for the year. Orders must be placed online and all unpaid balances are due in the office by Friday, May 22nd. Lunch is available through the last day of school, June 17th. Don't forget to take the survey (link) so we can continue to improve the lunch program!

Anyone who has an outstanding balance in their account on May 22nd will be notified. You may donate the balance to the PTA or you can receive reimbursement by contacting Suzanne Alpert at suzanne_alpert@yahoo.com. Thank you again for your support of this program, which benefits the educational programs at Edna. We hope your children have enjoyed lunch!

Also, the new June menu is available now. New for June is an all natural hamburger with organic ketchup.

Let Us Razzle KIDazzle You!
The Fifth Annual Edna Maguire Variety Show is this Friday, May 15th, at 6:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room. Come watch and cheer for the dazzling talent at Edna! The concession stand opens at 5:00 and we will be serving hot and cold food, home baked goods, popcorn, drinks, and more. Come have dinner with the stars! Click here to see the flyer.

Garden Irrigation Success
A big garden THANK YOU to Bruce Cardinal and his crew, who have finished installing irrigation in the garden. The Children's Garden is now completely irrigated via drip emitters and a state-of-the-art ET water controller. No more hand watering is necessary in the orchard, vegetable beds, sheet mulch bed, rose garden, berry bed, fruit fence (citrus, grapes, berries), or kiwi teepee. This will conserve volunteer time and is the most efficient way to deliver water to plants. Slow drip irrigation allows water to soak the roots, and watering at dawn prevents the water from evaporating. This system will greatly improve our garden's sustainability.

Reimbursements for Receipts?
Thanks to Edna teachers and parents who have bought supplies for various events during the 2008-09 school year. If you wish to be reimbursed for your purchases, please turn in your receipts with a completed reimbursement form to the PTA Treasurer's (Suzanne Alpert) mail box in the Edna Office.

Reimbursement forms can be found in the Flyers & Forms section of the Edna Maguire website. All receipts must be turned in by June 1st to qualify for payment. Finally, many thanks for all of the errand-running, shopping, and helping you did to make this such a successful school year!

It Takes a Village Special Education PTA

Parent Hike!
Friday, May 22nd, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Our get-togethers provide a chance for parents to share information about our kids who learn differently. This month, instead of our usual coffee, let's go for a hike! Meet at the Tennessee Valley parking lot at 9:00 a.m. We'll chat as we take a stroll to the beach, and we'll have time for snacks and more talking at the beach! If you have questions, please contact Kirstie Martinelli at 388-7130, or marinellikj@aol.com.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION

Marin Open Garden Project
The Marin Open Garden Project organizes weekly meetings of backyard gardeners to exchange excess fruit, vegetables and other goodies from their gardens. Have a tree full of fruit? The Project will harvest unwanted fruit from your garden and distribute it to other neighbors and community food banks and soup kitchens. Need a plot? Let them introduce you to a gardener with land to share. The Project is working to expand the number of community gardens in Marin County and create a seed library tailored to Marin's distinctive microclimates. They are also creating a garden tool library from which residents may borrow tools at no cost. Please call 264.2828 or email contact@opengardenproject.org for more information about the Marin Open Garden Project.

Save Spring Hill
Join the Marin County Parks and Open Space Department on Saturday, May 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a community meeting, volunteer workday, and naturalist walk. We'll discuss the Goatgrass Removal Project on Terra Linda/Sleepy Hollow Preserve, the results of past efforts and future plans addressing this invasive species. Then everyone will roll up their sleeves to pull goat grass. After lunch, Naturalist David Herlocker will lead a walk to see the plants and wildlife. Lunch will be provided. For more information, please call 507-2056.
