Frequent Rider Miles Contest April 14 – May 23
It’s time again for the ever-popular Frequent Rider Miles Contest. This is a chance for each student to win awards for walking, biking, or carpooling to school. If you need help finding other Edna families to SchoolPool with, see the MVSD Directory on page 13. Here’s how Frequent Rider Contest works:

  1. Each student receives a card in the Wednesday Folder this week for keeping track of how he or she travels to school. Read the back for how it works. Keep the card at home or in the student’s backpack and record travel each day on the card. Remember, a carpool is students from more than one family traveling together.
  2. The program runs from April 14th through May 23rd. Please put the dates on the card as appropriate. Friday, April 25th is the first Friday that prizes will be distributed.
  3. Each time a student turns in 20 points her or she is eligible to receive a small prize. Please note: this year prizes are only distributed on Fridays between April 25th and May 30th by a Safe Routes Team Volunteer in the office. Only bring cards in on Fridays, please!
  4. At the end of the contest, all cards that are turned in with at least 20 points and a parent signature will be entered into a drawing for larger prizes, such as a new bicycle, Razor scooter, backpack, or bike lock.
  5. Be sure to fill in the entire card with room number when you turn it in so we can find your child if he or she wins a big prize!

Thanks for supporting your school, the community, and the environment!

Garden News
Less than two weeks ago we began our spring school-wide planting. Come visit the garden to see how our seeds are up in full force. Right now the kids are growing radishes, lettuce, and sugar peas in the beds, and our greenhouse is bursting with seedlings. Feel free to pop in and see the magic!
Mark your calendars for the Spring Garden Work Party! Sunday, April 20th from noon to 3:00 p.m.

New Hot Lunch Program
We hope your children are enjoying the new hot lunch program. We have heard lots of positive feedback so far. We have also received several comments about portion size and we have heard you. Starting the week of April 14th, we will be increasing the portion size for grades 3 through 5 by 30 percent. The PTA will absorb the increased cost for this change. We hope that you continue to give us your feedback so we can better serve your needs. Please contact Katrina Kehl at kkehl@pacbell.net with any questions or concerns. You can still add meals by contacting Lisa Church at churchlady@pacbell.net.

Donuts with Dad
A big crowd showed up for this popular tasty and fun event. Connection and confection could not have happened without all the moms who volunteered their time. Big thanks to Margaret Krivoruchko, Julie McCrady, Deb Luster, Amy Frost, Julie Zener, Daria Painter, Karen Olson, Anne Buxton, and Christina Michael.

Terrific Tuesday moved to April 1
The second Tuesday of every month is Terrific Tuesday at Pizza Antica. In April, since that date is during spring break, we’ve moved Terrific Tuesday to tomorrow, April 1. Come out and support Edna Maguire with a pizza or two.

KIDDO!

Kiddo! Donation Day – May 1
The Mill Valley School District faces a difficult financial environment ahead, with significant budget cuts from the state, increasing student enrollment and an economic downturn that limits property tax revenues. With your support, we can do it!

This year’s requested annual contribution is $750 per student or more to cover the cost of programs provided. Please give generously.
