Announcing New SchoolPool Program For Mill Valley
Looking for ways to find other families to walk, bike, and carpool to school? Do your kids want to participate in the Golden Sneaker and the upcoming Frequent Rider contests, but you find it difficult for your family? SchoolPool is the answer.

SchoolPool is a Safe Routes to Schools program that connects families who wish to share in walking, biking, or carpooling their kids together to school. This year, MVSD has a new District-wide SchoolPool Program in your District Directory. To use the Program, check your Directory on page 13 or view the SchoolPool webpage.

There is also a large SchoolPool map in the office. Find your neighborhood code, then look up others listed in the directory after student and alphabetical listings. For questions or support starting new carpool groups, contact: Deborah Cole at dcole3@sbcglobal.net.

Mosaic Table Complete
Thank you to Linda Berlinger for the beautiful and colorful mosaic table and bench she has created and painstakingly assembled. Many thanks to the children of Edna who helped Linda install some of the tiles that lend this special seating area such sparkle and shine. Also, thanks to the brawny folks of Shell Road, including Bruce Berlinger and Ed Faubel, for moving this hefty piece of art to a sunny, grassy area where it can be enjoyed and appreciated by everyone.

MVSD Special Study Session
Come to the Special Study Session on the District Budget at 6:30 p.m. on March 25th at Strawberry Point School.

Each year, the MVSD Board uses this session to discuss and study the District's finances as one component of the District budget development process. This is a regular board meeting on a single topic and there is no board action taken on the agenda topic. Also, public comment is limited to the single agenda topic. The District CFAC will review its financial forecasting model as part of the session. Staff and commission members will also discuss the District's immediate and long-term financial health in light of the District's three-year strategic action plan, the Governor's proposed budget, and general economic indicators that impact the District budget.

Letter from Board Liaison Judy Sherman
Thank you for so graciously welcoming me into the Edna Maguire community as your School Board liaison. In the past few months I have had the pleasure of meeting so many of you and seeing firsthand that Edna's wonderful reputation in the district is well-earned through your traditions, culture, and focus on family.

Having raised four children in Mill Valley, I appreciate the collaboration, communication, and enthusiastic involvement demonstrated here at Edna. I look forward to working with your outstanding PTA and know that with Liza Zimmer's incomparable passion for excellence in education, we will be able to do great things together.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION

Mill Valley Library presents Author Ellen Klages
San Francisco author Ellen Klages, whose first novel, The Green Glass Sea (grades 5 through 8), won the prestigious Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction in 2007, will be speaking at the library on Friday, March 28 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for kids to hear a funny and irreverent speaker talk about historical research, character development, novel writing, and maybe even the atom bomb. This book has been popular with students in fifth through eighth grade, and we recommend it highly to all kids looking for great historical fiction.

For more information, please call 415-389-4292 x106 or visit http://millvalleylibrary.org . To find out more about Ellen Klages and The Green Glass Sea, visit http://www.ellenklages.com/greenglasssea.html.
