Come to Edna's multipurpose room at 6:30 p.m. to find out more about this potential project, which will have a direct impact on Edna Maguire and the surrounding neighborhoods. For more information, visit the Walk/Bike Marin project webpage.

Variety Show Auditions
Let's give 'em the 'ol "Razzle KIDazzle": the Edna Maguire Variety Show auditions are coming soon! The show encourages and showcases creativity in the performing arts. Past shows have been a great experience for both the performers and the audience, and have represented all grades and a wide spectrum of talent.

Auditions are Thursday, April 2nd or Friday, April 3rd from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Edna multipurpose room. Rehearsals will be Wednesdays after school, April 8th through May 13th. Dress rehearsal is Friday, May 15th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and the show is Friday, May 15th at 6:00 p.m.

Acts should be practiced and stage ready for auditions and rehearsals. Please review the criteria and guidelines on the information sheet with permission form and complete schedule (pdf). Students may also help with technical production including set design and development, or as an announcer, stagehand, or usher.

We will try to accommodate scheduling conflicts to allow participation in auditions and rehearsals. Please specify on the sign-up form if your child has time constraints for auditions.

The task of producing the Variety Show has blossomed with its popularity so we will be asking parents of participants to volunteer, either with rehearsals for the show, assisting the night of the show, or donating for the concession stand. A sign-up sheet will be available at the auditions.

We look forward to another fun and memorable time for all!

Terrific Tuesday at E&O Trading Company Tomorrow

Tasks include repairing the greenhouse; amending the soil; mulching new plants, beds and the orchard; painting the worm bins; and much more. Whole Foods will provide plenty of refreshments and breakfast snacks. Questions: contact Saor Stetler at sstetler@earthlink.net.

Clean Out Your Drawers and Donate Tiny Toys
Calling all neglected little toys lurking in your home! Do you have too many leftover little doodads from birthday parties and other events that your children have squired away but clog up precious closet and floor space? Rather than throwing them out, donate them to the Spring Garden Fair where they will be recycled into prizes for the many games we'll have. A large box marked "Prizes" will be in the office for several weeks to collect these items. Examples include small bouncy balls, little cars, pencils, erasers, whistles, and the like. Give these forgotten toys a new lease on life!

Valentine's Day Teacher Appreciation Kudos

A special thanks to Michelle Zimmermann for orchestrating another beautiful event. Our teachers and staff truly feel loved.

It Takes a Village

SPEAKER EVENT:
"Mastery and Competence — The Role of Learning in the Emotional Development of the Pre-Adolescent Child"

Thursday, March 5th, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the
Mill Valley District Office, 411 Sycamore Ave.

The late elementary and middle school years can be a challenging time for children and their parents. His presentation explores how learning, mastery, and the ability to feel competent are fundamental building blocks of psychological well being and the foundations of a healthy self. This presentation will identify several of the significant stressors facing our children as well as the crucial role parents play in providing the support and scaffolding needed to ensure continued learning, mastery, and competence.

This educational program is provided in collaboration with the Mill Valley PTA District Council and It Takes a Village Special Education PTA. For more information, please contact Andrea Brandeis, 383-9800.
