Sees Candy Fundraiser Forms are Due Today
Please remember that order forms for the Sees Valentine Candy are due today, February 4th. All proceeds will go to the installation of the K/1st grade play structure. We have already raised the funds to purchase the playground equipment, which is sitting in storage on site. Now, we are working hard to earn the money for the installation, which will hopefully occur in April. All valentine candy sale proceeds will benefit this initiative.
Lost and Found Sale
Spring cleaning time is here. That's right, time to clear out all the unclaimed Lost and Found items! There are items from as far back as September, and as you know, the rack is just bursting with forlorn coats and the like. All items are $3 each, payable to the PTA. Next week, from February 11th to the 15th, there will be a separate rack out by the front office with all SALE merchandise clearly marked (we don't want to get it mixed up with current items). Come find a long lost jacket, or find some terrific deals on 'new' things! It's win-win!
Wanted: Edna Parent and Teacher Musicians
The Open Mic Jam Session at the Annual Edna Family Dance Charity Event is set for Saturday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m. Come out to raise money for charity and live out your rock & roll fantasies. Here’s how it’ll work: Opening the evening will be Greek Wooden Buddha, the classic rock band featuring Edna student, Maddy Toy’s dad, Tommy. Headlining the show will Chasing Maya, the amazing rock band made up of students ages 9-11, including Edna’s own Ryan and Reed Felder! Closing the show will be an Open Mic Jam Session for Edna parent and teacher musicians, singers, and performers who can get up on stage (backed by Greek Wooden Buddha) and rock the house! Already committed to jam: Mrs. Harvey, Mr. Frierson, and Mr. Stachon!
Interested? Contact Tommy Toy IN ADVANCE to discuss your song choice(s) to give the band enough lead-time to get ready. Deadline is February 15!

Executive Functioning:
Organizational Strategies For Academic Success
Thursday, February 7, 2008 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Mill Valley School District Office, 411 Sycamore Avenue
Does your child (or you!) have the homework blues? Does he or she have difficulty relating a story chronologically or skip steps in a multi-step task? Does he or she lack a sense of time? Problems in a student's ability to plan, initiate, sequence, and sustain work will have a significant impact on his or her success at school and in everyday life. Give your child the tools he or she needs to succeed by gaining a better understanding of executive function.
Karen Seekamp, MA, MSed, a learning specialist and executive functioning coach, will give you concrete strategies to assist your child, including tips on how to bring that homework binder to life! This seminar will be particularly relevant to parents of 4th through 8th graders, but parents of all District students are welcome.
This event is sponsored by It Takes a Village, Special Education PTA, Mill Valley. Please call Janet Miller with questions at 380-0631.
