Please Drive Safely to Protect Our Kids!

Did you know that 23 percent of fatal car accidents happen on local and residential roads? And according to the World Health Organization, car crashes are the number one cause of death for young persons, worldwide, between the ages of 10 and 24.

In the rush to get our kids to and from school, it's easy to get careless with our driving. Rolling through stop signs, driving too fast or being distracted by cell phones are just a few of the bad habits that can have deadly consequences--for our children, ourselves or others. Please remember to drive responsibly, especially around our schools. And be sure to check out this flyer from Street Smarts Marin for some great tips on protecting our kids on-- and around-- our roads.

Get the Scoop on Joining the Girl Scouts, Tuesday, October 19

Girl Scouts of Richardson Bay will host a "Meet and Greet" event for parents and girls interested in learning more about our area troops:

When: Tuesday, October 19
Time: 6:30 - 8:00 pm
Where: Scout Hall - 177 E. Blithedale Ave, Mill Valley
RSVP/Questions: Jennifer Oreste 388-7938, jenoreste@pacbell.net

Local Girl Scouts outings include bowling, camping, dances, cookouts, and science and art activities to name just a few. Now is the perfect time to join in the fun! Edna Maguire has two Girl Scout troops accepting new members: A first through third grade troop meets after school two Wednesdays a month from 2-3pm. Please contact first grade parent Laurie Mandigo-Stoba at stoba3@comcast.net or 3rd grade parent Renee Marler for additional information. A fifth grade troop meets after school two Mondays a months from 2:50 to 4:30 p.m. For more details, contact Jennifer Oreste at jenoreste@pacbell.net.
